Kavignareru Amallathasan (Majestic Poet) was born in Kuala Kubu Bahru,
in the district of Selangor,Malaysia.
Amallathasan has been writing since 1958. Tamil Murasu Maanavar Manimandra Malar (Students Bell Club supplement of Tamil Murasu) laid the foundation for his
Writings.
He has written poems, songs and children’s songs on various themes such as nation,
Language, community, nature, love, philosophy, etc, his poems have been published
by magazines and newspapers from Singapore, Malaysia and even Tamil Nadu.
He has won many special prizes, in the literary contests held by newspapers,
Community Organizations, Magazines
Published in Singapore and Malaysia. In 1975 his song beginning with “The sea
Where waves dance” was selected as one of the best song in the National song Writing contect, Organised by the National Theatre Committee and the Singapore Broadcasting Corporation, in the four official languanges.
“Pon Poets Society” of Malaysia honoured him in 1989 for his literary works and
awarded him the title “Kavignareru” (Majestic Poet)
One of his poems “Dead Tree” was displayed from 16th August to 19th October 1995
in the Mass rappied Transcist by the Singapore National Arts Council.
In 1995, Bharathidasan Movement of Malaysia Honoured him with the golden shawl
And Shield.
In 2001 he received the “Thamizhar Thirunal” (Tamils Festival) Award from the
Singapore United Muslim Association.
In 2003 he recived the Community Service Award from the Kadayanallur Muslim League.
In 2006 his literary and community service history found its place in the
Encyclopedia of Singapore.
Kavignareru Amallathasan is also known for his generous contribution to society.

Pany’s editorials and colums
He has held important posts in various literary and community organizations
From 1961.
He took over as president of Association of Singapore Tamil Writers in (1987 – 2005) and Sparheaded its cause and initated the “Thamizhavel Award for Tamil Writers.
Now he in in the Post of an Advisor to the Association.
He participated in serval literary conferences held in Singapore, Malaysia,
Tamil Nadu and Mauritius.
He had made literary speeches in these conferences and also recited his poems.
Amallathasan works in a traditional style and in 2004 , he published two volumes
of poetry “Pullangkuzhal” (The Flute) and “Thamizhar Thalaivar Thamizhavel”
(Thamizhavel, Leader of the Tamils), and were released in Tamil Nadu,
by the International centre for Tamils.
and received two Awards by the title “Enamaana Paavalar” and
“Thamizhavel Kondan”
These books was relesed in Singapore by the Association of Singapore
Tamil Writers in 200
Amalathasan’s lyrics by the title of “Alaipaatum Valanaadu” received
Specil mention in a 1975 National song writing contest.
In 2005 the lyric by the title of “Singapore entru sollum poothilae” (“when you say Singapore…” ) which was composed and sung by S. Gunasegaran,won first price in the National song writing competition ( in four official languages) organized by the North East Community Development Club, and also this sing was selected and by
Vasantham central Meda Corp Star Mohd. Sharif was sung at the 2006 National
Day Parade Function.
In 2006 he received the “Thamizhavel Award” in gold, by the Association of
Singapore Tamil Writers.
In 2007 Kavignareru received “Barathi Barathithasan” Award by the
Association of Tamil Language council,Singapore.
